SkateSeek is a free United States skate park directory available at skateseek.com. This privacy policy describes how we collect, use, and share information about you when you use our website. • Account information: If you create an account, we collect your email address and password. An account is only required for submitting skate parks — browsing the directory requires no account or personal information.
• User-submitted content: If you submit a skate park, we collect the park name, location, description, photos, and any other details you provide through the submission form. Photos are stored in our hosting infrastructure.
• Communications: If you contact us through our contact form, we collect the information you include in your message.

Information Collected Automatically

• Log data: Like most websites, we collect information that web browsers and servers typically make available, including browser type, IP address, device information, pages visited, referring URL, and the date and time of each request.
• Analytics data: We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site — including page views, session duration, and traffic sources.
• Location data:We only access your geographic location if you explicitly grant browser geolocation permission (for our "near me" feature). We do not track your location otherwise. Google Maps, which we use to display park locations, may collect location-related data per Google's Privacy Policy.

• Service providers: We use third-party services to operate the site, including Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage), Vercel (hosting), Google (Maps API and Analytics), and AI service providers (for content moderation and generation). These providers only receive information necessary to perform their services.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such disclosure is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, or investigate fraud.
• Business transfers: If Nearby Ventures, LLC is acquired, merged, or substantially all of its assets are transferred, user information may be one of the assets transferred. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

Third-Party Services

• Google Maps: Park location maps are provided by Google Maps, subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Google Maps Terms.
• Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics to understand site usage. You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

AI-Generated Content

Some content on SkateSeek — including city descriptions, park summaries, review analysis, and content moderation decisions — is generated or assisted by artificial intelligence. When you submit content through our site, that content may be processed by third-party AI providers for moderation purposes. AI providers are bound by their own privacy policies and data processing agreements.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

• Essential cookies: We use authentication session cookies to keep you logged in. These are required for account functionality and cannot be disabled while using authenticated features.
• Analytics cookies: Google Analytics sets cookies to measure site usage. You can opt out using the browser add-on linked above or by configuring your browser to reject third-party cookies.
• Third-party cookies: Google Maps may set cookies when map embeds are loaded on park pages.

We do not use advertising or marketing cookies.

Data Retention

• Account data is retained while your account is active. You may request account deletion at any time.
• Submitted park data is retained indefinitely as part of the public directory, even if your account is deleted, because contributed park information becomes part of the community resource.
• Analytics data is retained per Google Analytics' default retention settings.
• Server logs are retained for a limited period for security and debugging purposes.

SkateSeek is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Account creation is not available to anyone under 13. Browsing the skate park directory does not require an account or any personal information.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Authentication is handled by Supabase with industry-standard security practices. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of SkateSeek after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
